The Benefit of Books

Lone Leaf believes in putting books in children’s hands.  The visual and tactile experience of words on a page offers a multitude of benefits that can significantly impact development and well-being.  These include improved literacy skills, language development, concentration, focus, bonding, relationships and academic success.  Children who are exposed to reading are more likely to choose books over video games, television and other forms of entertainment as they grow older.

Our books and curriculum encourage the development of reading comprehension and allow students to analyze and evaluate what they’ve read.  Students learn to ask critical thinking questions and use these skills in everyday life.  The rich vocabulary in our books strengthens students’ language skills.  Reading, thinking and discussing literature with students improves communication skills and can benefit all children.

Books about silly, joyful, serious or difficult situations can generate meaningful conversations with students.  Students explore feelings and discover their own perspectives and solutions to problems.  The variety of characters, scenarios, and illustrations in Loneleaf’s books and curriculum allow students to gain skills to make responsible decisions and manage a variety of emotions.
